Easy Travelling with Kids

Bringing your little ones for a trip of a lifetime may be tricky, but before you break out a sweat at the thought, check out these helpful suggestions on how to make your vacation one that is memorable for all the right reasons.

1. Travel light. Having your kids along for the ride will require more things to bring. Before the trip, ask the hotel or the travel destination for any services they offer for children, such as stroller or high-chair rentals, to lessen the amount of baggage. If you’re traveling to the U.S., you can rent gear from websites such as babysaway.com. With a less heavy load, keeping up with excited kids will be easier.

2. Be prepared. While packing light is highly suggested, it is always better to have extras of the essential items—diapers, wipes, medication, change of clothes. You can also throw in a coloring book for good measure.

3. Bring toys and games—quiet ones. As kids normally have short attention spans, it will be best to bring toys to keep them entertained (an iPad works pretty well, too). However, it is advised to leave the noisy ones at home, to maintain peace and quiet during the vacation. This can also be the time to teach your bigger kids some responsibility by having them pack their toys in their own bag, and letting them carry it. Parents should always check the toys for water content or potential explosive material such as Play-Doh (according to the U.S. Transportation Security Administration).
