Did you know that chameleons can change color because they have pigment cells under their skin that can quickly change color? There are as much as 11 species found on Madagascar (the place, not the movie!): Calumma brevicornis, Calumma gastrotaenia, Calumma nasuta, Calumma parsonii, Brookesia nasus, Brookesia Superciliaris, Brookesia stumpffi; and Furcifer lateralis, Furcifer pardalis, Furcifer oustaleti and Furcifer verrucosus. Encourage your kids to learn more about the environment by observing animals at the zoo, oceanarium, or wherever else possible.
