Ingrid Chua-Go

The svelte and stylish woman behind thebaghagdiaries.com is a mother of two and former managing editor turned retailer and blogger—not surprising at all that she’s found a way to share her craft (and her life as a mom) through her words and her personal corner in cyberspace. Ingrid Go’s blog is a globally famous, happy mix of fashion and accounts of her trips abroad, a refreshing look at the world through the eyes of a chic, svelte, young mom who strikes a perfect balance between raising her family and raising awareness on the latest fashion finds.

How did you get into blogging, and what was your primary purpose when you launched it?
I began blogging in October 2005. I had just given birth to my second child months before and found myself bored—I used to be a managing editor for a weddings publication (for a good five to six years), and I loved to write, so I signed up for an account at Blogger to start an online diary. At the time I did, I was also thinking of rewarding myself after having given birth a second time—I was thinking of buying myself a new bag. But the dilemma was, I also wanted to buy our place a new couch. So I took to the blog to openly ask whoever was reading out there to help me decide which to get. Six years later, I still don’t have that couch. Eventually, word got around about my online diary—a mishmash of bag reviews, never-ending shopping wish lists for things—ah, priorities, priorities—my love for food and travel, and my constant self-deprecation. Here I am today, still writing. The original purpose was just to share my thoughts about the things I like, and to try to get opinions on those things. It had a very shallow purpose, really, but it was meant to be a positively entertaining one, for sure.
