BC Magazine's Exclusive on the Abrera Family

BC's Editor Kariz Tanya Favis sat down and spent a relaxed afternoon with the beautiful couple Suzi and Paolo Abrera and their charming daughters, Leona, Jade and Nella as they talked about the success behind their stellar careers, working as a team in their marriage, and being the best parents they could possibly be to their children.

Kariz: Biggest challenges you have to face while working.

Suzi: When you're starting out, you're also so insecure about "Do they like me?" my first boss in GMA always challenged me in a way that I felt, "Oh, I didn't do a good job?" I felt that tomorrow's another day to try to get better at it. I started out in GMA as a newscaster, and it was difficult for my personality. If you're newscaster, you have to stay calm and poised. I think they figured it wasn't the right one for me, kasi natataranta akopag may barilan, so out na 'yun. I was given intro segments and feature hosting.

Kariz: You've been married for ten years, what's your secret? Could it also be that you started out as co-workers?

Paolo: I think there's a bit of that. We got to know each other well before we got serious. There's an old saying that, "You don't really know anybody, until you travel with them." and all we did was travel together, so there's hardly any secrets there. But for me, it's because I continue to enjoy Suzi's company. We make sure to continue to grow and complement each other. I think the day when you think you all know there is to know about each other, then what is there to know to each other? and you stop to discover, and i think life and partnership is a constant discovery. You will discover along the way that there are some things you don't agree on, and that's perfectly fine. that's part and parcel your partner and yourself - and vise versa.
